Trying to get from Edinburgh to Lucerne and then to Rome on the cheap. Since Easy Jet has not directs is there any other way to get there without it costing three arms and two legs.

Never assume the discount airlines have the cheapest rates. kayak.com shows British Airways' one-way fare from Edinburgh to Zurich (connecting at Gatwick) is $53USD with fees/taxes the total is $150. The only airline that provides a direct flight is BMI and its fare is over $300USD one-way.
