Help for Austria and Switzerland

I would head to Lauterbrunen in the Berner Oblerland and do a a bit of hiking at the valley floor, and visit the Trummelbach Falls; even in the valley the scenery is stunning. Gryuere, Luzern, and Montruex make excellent day trips.

michael is right, we just came back from switzerland a week ago, and went to Lauterbrunnen for 3 days, there is lots for you to do without going too high and it is a beautiful place (we will definetely go back). we also spent 4 days in french switzerland (gruyères, montreux, bern area) and we had plenty to do. we had a 8 days swiss pass, and it was perfect for us since it covered almost all trains and a lot of the museums we wanted to see.

I recommend the Berner Oberland around Interlaken. The views of the lakes and mountains are classic Switzerland. From Interlaken, I highly recommend taking the Golden Pass train. In my opinion, it's simply the most beautiful train ride you'll take! One leg heads west from Interlaken to Montreux, while the other leg heads east to Luzern. They're both beautiful rides, but if I really had to choose one I'd do the western run to Montreux. I spent my time on that train either with my jaw dropped in awe, or snapping endless photos. There are also some great lake cruises from Interlaken, with Lake Thun on the west side and Lake Brienz on the east side. If you use a railpass, all of these should be covered under such.

Must agree with the others...Lauterbrunnen. We spent 6 days and night there and loved every minute of it. Wengen, Murren and Gimmelwald just minutes away. Wonderful experience.
