We've seen pix of Heiligenblut and think we'd love to visit. However, it doesn't appear to be on a rail line, only bus, and we'll have no car. Can anyone tell me the best way to get there ( possibly from Villach?) and if it's worth it? Thanks.

You'd have to take the train from Villach to Lienz and then a bus to Heiligenblut. Total journey time is 2:50 hours one-way. Heiigenblut is nice but probably not worth the hassle. The drive along the Großglockner Hochalpenstraße is phantastic - but you'd have to rent a car for the day.

Thanks to you both. A car is out of the question and the 6-hours for the round trip can be put to better use somewhere else.
