heidelberg bicycle route

Hi,
I've read that there is a place to rent bicycles in Heidelberg at the old bridge. Could anyone recommend a good bike route to take from Heidelberg to see the scenic towns nearby. Any town/villages good for two people to explore and take in the scenery? thanks

Most of the towns in this area are connected by bicycle routes. You'll find the signs easily enough if you look. You can have a relatively leisurely ride to the nearby town of Schwetzingen, which has a large baroque schloss. Heidelberg lies along the Bergstraße (mountain road), which connects a number of old, scenic wine producing towns together (like Schriesheim, Weinheim, Heppenheim, Dossenheim, Hirschberg, etc). And Heidelberg also sits on the edge in the Neckar-Odenwald Naturpark, which is positively littered with scenic, but seldom-touristed towns and villages. But the roads here are less suited for casual cycling.
