I'm not able to make the alhambra-tickets.es website work when I pick a date to visit the Alhambra and click "buy tickets". I'm going in website circles. Has anyone successfully reserved, paid for, and bought tickets online from other sites? When I googled on alhambra tickets, of course I got a bazillion hits from a bazillion sites that sounded as if they'd work fine. But I don't know if there's something official about the site I was trying to use. I'd hate to buy tickets online from a "scalper" and get to the front gate and then be told my tickets were not valid?!

The alhambra-ticket.es site should take you directly to the ServiCaixa website for the purchase. Is that the website giving you trouble? Sometimes it is slow, but I had no trouble with three separate ticket purchases therelast spring. You might try accessing it directly with a google search for "alhambra ServiCaixa" or just go directly to www.servicaixa.com. The purchase process takes multiple steps as you choose day, number of tickets, time of visit, etc. and each page takes a few seconds or more to load. But be patient. Just now I had no trouble at all placing two tickets in my cart for a 10:00 am visit on March 22. (I didn't complete the purchase as, much as I would love to go, I have to be in the US that day! Make sure you have called your bank to advise of the foreign purchase so they don't reject the charge.
Neil, Been there, done that. No help. That was actually the detailed process I was trying, wiht no luck. I just didn't say that since it's a "rival" message board! Lola, Thx for the advice that the caixa site could be slow. I got the same advice on the tripadvisor site, which is where I got the instructions I was following. I'll try again.
Hey! Presto! It worked! Thx again, both of you!
Excellent!
Thanks for the thanks.
Not sure if I should start a new thread but how far in advance should I get tickets for mid-end of April? Any suggestions on best time to go early/late in day? Any suggestions on lodging nearby? Thanks!
Ann, Once I got the site to work at all ("be patient, Tom"; that's my wife in the background!) I had no trouble at all buying tickets for mid-May. AND THERE WEREN'T MANY LEFT FOR THE HALF-DAY BETWEEN 8 AM AND 2 PM! If you want to be sure of getting the ones you want, I wouldn't wait much longer at all! Tom
Ann, you can check on the number of entry tickets left for each timeslot on the Servicaixa website. Just start the purchase process and you will see the bar graph with numbers of available tickets. If you want to stay someplace close, there are two places to stay which are actually inside the Alhambra walls. The Parador is very nice, . . . And expensive. We stayed one night at the smaller, family-run Hotel America. Our 120euro room was small but charming, overlooking the vine-covered central patio. It was pleasant and very convenient for our Alhambra visits. We did a night visit to the palaces the night of our arrival, and a 5-hour walking tour of the Moors' water engineering (visit entorno Conquest of Water") the following day. Hotel America allowed us to store our luggage there until we finished the walking tour. We returned, had lunch on the patio, and picked up our luggage to move to our next Granada lodging. This was last May and it was a great way to see the most of the Alhambra.
