We are working on some day trips from Paris and Senlis came to mind. Is it worth spending a day? Any good restaurants? Anything we must see while there? Can you get there by train? Thank you so much in advance.
Well we have driven near Senlis as we stayed in Lamorlaye with relatives, and we did daytrips to a few places in the area.
If you are considering a day trip that is easy to do by train, with no car, consider Chantilly. The village itself is very small, but you go for the Chateau, the Horse Museam, the Royal Stables, the Race track, and the beautiful Chantilly forests.
Easy to hop a train at Gare Du Nord, and I think it is about 20-30 minutes.
If you get a car there is much more to do in area, Pierrefonds, and the Armistance Signing Clearing, as well as there are serveral great inns and restaurants that are in the countryside, car assesible only.
Good luck, ps, did you google Senlis to see the offical tourist site?
I drove thru Senlis and did not see anything worth stopping for. I suggest Chantilly, Versailles, Chartres, Fontainebleau, or a town in Loire Valley. all very doable as a daytrip. But do not cut Paris short in order to do these other also great excusions. All reachable by train.
