Has anyone stayed in Hotel Regence in Arles?

Looking for a good home base for 3 nights in Provence. This one seems like it is affordable with a really good location. www.hotel-regence.com Other ideas?

Hi, Brenda. Check out postings under "Arles accommodations" - same topic being discussed. There are several travelers who comment on Hotel Regence.

Another idea... We stayed at Hotel du Musee... I've also posted my opinion on that thread. Have a fun time in Provence - its a glorious part of France!

We stayed there for several days in 2004. It was very clean, modernized (air cond), with good beds and a delightful breakfast. Staff is helpful though their English is limited. It is a pleasant and easy walk from the train station. There are cafes and a laundromat around the corner. From the Regence it is about a 10 minute walk either to the Roman Arena or to the Place du Forum. The only thing that is a longer walk is the Ancient History Museum, which you might want to do a taxi or bus to (we walked...it was a good 20 minutes). If you have a rental car, there is parking nearby, and getting into the countryside is very quick and easy.

Brenda - Yes on both counts! My wife and I stayed at the Regence for 4 nights in late August and found it to be a great home base. It's on the river bank just inside the old city walls on the north. Lots of free parking in Place Lamartine on the other side of the walls. Easy to get away (via Place Lamartine) to day-trip sites: Pont du gard, Les Baux, etc., but still part of the old city center. Thumbs up on the hotel itself too.
