Have you checked on Trip Advisor for places? My aunt lives there, but she doesn't live near the train station. Such a pity...

Haven't used www.hotel.de recently but I think you could specify if you wanted to stay near something, like downtown, train station, etc. There's an English version.

tripadvisor also gives you the option to search near a landmark. I'm a little ticked at Hotels.com. I made a series of reservations for my wife and kids to drive across country last month. All bookings were fine except the one through Hotels.com. The hotel said they had no record of the reservation, even when I provided the confirmation number. Fortunately, they had a room at the planned price but I had to make extra calls to cancel the original booking with Hotels.com to ensure I wasn't charged twice or their fee.

Thanks for the replies. I have found a place in Hannover, and will see if I made a good choice. It's much easier using Rick's guides than going through lots of web sites.
