Does anyone have a suggestion for a b&b or hotel close to the Hamburg airport ? Or a hotel close to the train station ? We can just take the train into the airport.

There are so many hotels directly at or near the hotel (the latter ones with shuttle buses)... what's your budget? The nicest one is the brand new Radisson Blu hotel directly at the airport with walking distance to the terminals. If you're on a tighter budget there also is an IBIS only a 5 mins bus ride from the airport. But again, there are many more. Search for Hamburg Airport as location on hrs.com or trivago.com....
