What is the best way to get from Hallstatt to Budapest? Do I need to take a train from Hallstatt to Vienna (via Linz) and then Vienna to Budapest? Or is there a direct route or shuttle service. I looked into a ck shuttle service (ckshuttle.cz), but they do not depart from Hallstatt. Is the train scenic? Thank you!!

There's no direct train, and it's going to take most of the day, but you can get to Budapest with just one change at Linz. See http://www.bahn.de/i/view/GBR/en/index.shtml for schedules. The train route near Hallstatt is very scenic, not so much further east.
