Do the Haarlem, Netherlands, train station ticket machines take Euro bills or only coins? (I've read that American credit cards can't be used there.) Thanks!

Some machines are setup to take bills and coins, there are other machines that are setup only to take coins, and there are some machine that will accept bills coins, and chip & pin cards.
Magnetic strip cards aren't accepted at either the machines or the ticket windows.

Our experience two years ago was coins only in Haarlem.
