Family of 4 looking for a place to stay around Gruyere so we can explore the area and not break the bank.

Erin, We are traveling to area this summer and I spent A LOT of time trying to find accommodation for us (3 adults and a baby) that was in our budget. I found this holiday apartment: http://www.harbaugh.ch/ that looked great. The only reason we didn't book it was because the 3rd adult (a tall man) wasn't comfortable sleeping in the extra bed. You don't say how old the kids are so it might be an option for you. I also found this apartment: http://www.homeaway.com/vacation-rental/p193852 that might work for you as well. Both are in Montreux which is about 30 mins from Gruyeres but an easy drive. They both also require a minimum of 2-3 nights stay but when we asked the second one offered to charge us for 3 nights even if we only stayed for 2. It still worked out to be less expensive than most of the other places I looked at. Good luck!
