I am travelling from zell am see to Klagenfurt. Is it possible to go via the grossglockner road say a night in Heiligenblut and then travel on to Klagenfurt or Villach. Have no car so this would be by bus.
Thanks
Check out the Austrian Rail website, www.oebb.at. Put in "Zell am See" to "Heiligenblut". There is no rail station in Heiligenblut; the site will offer you a whole list of bus stops there (hope you know where you are going. Or, for now, just pick one). It will show you connections with a train to Mittersill followed by a series of two buses to Heiligenblut. For Heiligenblut to Klagenfurt, it will show you a bus connection to a series of train. The last one will stop in Villach before going to Klagenfurt, so I guess that answers one of your questions.
That's one of the most scenic roads in the Alps. Consider renting a car just for that one day... one-way rentals within the same country are free of additional charge...
