Please suggest the best round trip for day one to Jungrau from Grindelwald And then for day tow best round trip to Schilthorn from Grindelwald I am looking for most scenci cable ways, trains and ski ways to the mountains. I want to cover wengen and lauterbrunnen vallies.
I have 2 kids and my mother 58 years old. I want to take the most scenic routs. Please help.

gautami, A few final points (ran out of room in the previous reply)..... The Schilthorn is at 10,000 feet, so again the altitude could be a problem for some people. I've never had any issues at the Schilthorn, but I found that I was moving much slower at the Jungfrau, and even climbing stairs was more of an effort. There's a revolving restaurant at the Schilthorn, so if your budget will allow that's a great place to enjoy a nice meal while watching the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau glide by the windows. The facility was used for filming of the James Bond movie On Her Majesty's Secret Service many years ago, so you'll see many references to that. Cheers!

Thanks for you both for this excellent suggestion. I just have a question. Which one of these is most scenic. And where is wengen in this whole trip

There's really only one way to get to the Jungfraujoch from Grindelwald. You take the train up the mountain to Kleine Scheidig, and from there, you transfer to another train up to the Jungfraujoch. Of course, you could also take the ski gondola up to Männlichen and hike over to Kleine Scheidig. OK, I guess there's two ways, then.... Grindelwald to Wengen- take the ski gondola up to Männlichen, take the cable car down to Wengen. I'm not positive, but I think you can also take the cogwheel rail from Kleine Scheidig down to Wengen. Or, you could hike down. If you'll have a car, it's easiest just to drive from Grindelwald to Stechelberg and take the series of cable cars (via Gimmelwald and Mürren) to Piz Gloria at the summit of the Schilthorn. Getting there via public transporation is a little more complicated. I'm not sure of the details, but you could probably get there via Wengen and Lauterbrunnen, or take a train from one valley to the other. Obviously, if you visit in the winter, the hiking parts are a little more complicated.

gautami, These are the routes I'd use..... > Grindelwald to Jungfraujoch - As Tom mentioned, take the small train from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg. There you'll transfer to the Jungfraubahn train which will take you to the Jungfraujoch. Note that the Sphinx Observatory, which is the highest level, is at about 12,000 feet so keep that in mind if any of your group suffers from "altitude issues". > Grindelwald to Schilthorn - Take the train from Grindelwald to Lauterbrunnen via Zweilu?tschinen. When you arrive in Lauterbrunnen, you have two choices: (1.) Take the Post Bus (bright yellow, you can't miss it) to Stechelberg and then transfer to the Cable cars for the four segment trip to the Schilthorn (you'll need to change Cable cars at Gimmelwald, Mürren and Birg). The first segment from Stechelberg to Gimmelwald is spectacular, so keep your Camera at hand. (2.) On arrival in Lauterbrunnen, walk across the street to the BLM Cable Car station for the short trip to Grütschalp. When you arrive there, you'll transfer to the small BLM mountain railway for the short trip to Mürren. The station in Mürren is at the opposite end of town from the Cable Car station, so you'll have to walk through town, where you'll connect with the same Cable Car as in Option (1). In this case, the Cable Car ride will only be two segments. If you buy tickets for these trips in Grindelwald, they will include all modes of transport. You may be able to save some money (especially on the Jungfrau trip) by purchasing one of the Swiss Passes, perhaps the Jungfrau VIP Pass. You'll have to do the number crunching to determine if the Passes will save money in your circumstances. Happy travels!

gautami, Wengen is between Kleine Scheidegg and Lauterbrunnen, but you'll need to take another train than the one from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg. There are two main routes to get to Wengen from Grindelwald: (1.) Take the Wengernalpbahn train from Grindelwald to Kleine Scheidegg and then transfer to the train that goes down the hill to Lauterbrunnen. Wengen is the first stop below Kleine Scheidegg. (2.) Take the train to Lauterbrunnen as described in my earlier post. Transfer to the Wengernalpbahn train going to Kleine Scheidegg and after the cog wheel mechanism hauls the train up the hill, Wengen will be the first stop. Have a look at the "Validity Map" on this website, as that shows where the towns are located: www.swisspasses.com/railpass/swiss-regional-rail-passes/packages/jungfrau-unlimited/ Cheers!

Thanks Ken for Prompt reply. I really appreciate your response. After looking at your response now I have another question. Is it better for me to drive to all the cable Ways instead of taking trains?
Also is it better to stay in Interlaken instead of grindlewald with 2 kids and a Sr. citizen ? I am just wondering is this worth to stay at grindelwald. I can consider staying at lauterbrunen vally instead Please your opinions are important

gautami, Given the fact that you're planning to visit sites on both sides of the valley, Lauterbrunnen would be a more central and convenient location to stay and would provide easier transportation. While you won't have the same views that you'd get in Mürren or Wengen, it's still an incredibly beautiful and scenic location (IMO). If you stay in Lauterbrunnen, you won't need a car as you can easily walk to either the BLM Cable Car or the train station for the trip to the Jungfrau. The public transportation there is excellent, and you'll be able to easily get to all of the places you want to visit. One other point to mention. Switzerland tends to be somewhat expensive, so be sure you have an "adequate" budget for your stay there. Cheers!

You can also take a bus or walk the 40 minute level path to Trummelbach falls in Lauterbrunnen. It is a huge waterfall inside the mountain. Best 11 Swiss Francs I ever spent.

Thanks Brendon, I want to spend a day in trains. Now this may sound a crazy idea but I want to do it. My plan is to take the day from Montreaux to Zermatt-visp-brig Glacier express. And then to Andermatt to Milan. I go to Milan at around 6 PM, check in refresh. And go out for dinner at a good fashion district. Does this sound like a crazy idea. I don't want to miss Switzerland train expiriance. I'm planning on having lunch on one of the trains
