I will be in Grenoble, France, for a work meeting at the end of the month. I am going over 3 days early, and am looking for help in planning my time. Should I stay in Grenoble and do day trips? If so, to where? Or, should I drive down for one night and two days to the aix-en-provence area? Would appreciate any help.

A day trip to Chamberey and/or Annecy from Grenoble would be very possible, both small cities being very attractive and interesting.

I go to Grenoble for business sporadically. Grenoble is an ok city, but a little lacking in for 3 full days. Make sure to walk to the old town by the river (Ises'?.
I would do one day trip simliar to this:
- Drive northwest to Annecy (ann-see), spend morning, have lunch in Annecy. Then continue on to Chamonix in time for ride up the moutains. Do check to make sure the weather on Chamonix. Eat dinner in Chamonix before leaving.
Return back in the evening. Really, a pretty easy drive, but definite all day trip. You could split this trip into two one day trips if you like and include a stop in Geneva, Switzerland. However, it can be done in one.
