Graphic T shirts in France

My two daughters (in their mid 20's) will be in Paris for a week in the fall. If they wear graphic T shirts, i.e., T shirts with designs printed on them, will that mark them as American tourists? Thanks, Judy

Judy, absolutely not! When I was in Milan (2 years ago), kids were wearing the weirdest graphic shirts with the corniest "american" sayings. You'd look at them and think "gee, I wonder if they realize what they are wearing".

I think kids are kids, no matter where on earth they are from.

Thanks, Michelle. However, I was thinking more along the lines of a muted floral or muted abstract design. I know that blacks, greys, navy, etc are good colors and i always just wear those, but I thought my hipper, younger daughters would like a little more style. Thanks, Judy

Judy, as long as one does not wear a graphic T shirt, there is absolutely no way a person can be pegged as a tourist.

Thanks all of you. Am checking the parisescapes site, but will suggest to my girls to bring plain Ts and they can get scarves to wrap around their necks for color!

My daughter is in her mid-20's also, and has traveled fairly widely. No way on Earth would she let me dictate to her what to wear! I'm surprised you wouldn't encounter the same attitude from your daughters. Kids wear pretty much the same things no matter where they live, but if they look different, who cares? Let them choose their own clothes.

Nancy, your response made me smile. My girls have never been out of the US and although I don't normally get involved with their clothing choices, they asked me for suggestions. I've been to Paris 4 times before but not for 3 or 4 years now. Judy
