I am planing a trip to Spain in June. I want to do the tourist thing of seeing Tangier.I will be coming from Granada. Rick's book on Spain (page 623)indicates that there is a train (3/day,4.5 hr trip)from Granada to Algeciras from which I would then catch a bus to Tarifa and on to Tangier. HOWEVER, I can find NOTHING about such a Granada - Algeciras connection on any web site. The concierge at my Granada hotel emails that there is no direct train connection Granada - Algeciras. Am I misreading the book? Was the train connection discontinued? Does anyone know? If the connection exists, how do I get a train ticket?

There is no doubt there are three journeys a day. This is the national rail company website - http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/index.html You may be looking too far ahead for schedules, any imminent date will do to confirm, the schedules are highly unlikely to change. Buy online or at the station, there is no discounting on this service for advance purchase. A scenic journey.
