We are planning on renting a car in Granada and dropping it in Seville. The best rate I found is through Auto Europe and the web site is showing availability from both the train station and the airport. The train station is more convenient for us to pick up the car. Has anyone one rented from the train station? I am concerned about leaving town and avoiding the restricted traffic zones on the way out of town. Also, I am concerned that that the train station has enough cars to get a car to accommodate four people with luggage. Any thoughts or experience would be helpful. Thank you.
Hi Jim. I haven't rented at Granada train station, but have rented at many others with good luck. They will give you good advice / map to leave town. Granada is not a big city. Also, the airport is small and I think car selection would probably be better at train station. Enjoy your trip!
As posted above by Bob, Granada is not a large city and it will be quite easy for you to drive from the train station to the Autovia. You will be far enough away from the central area to avoid the narrow streets. The train station may even have more cars than at the airport? Your main concern should be finding a car than will accommodate four people with luggage. I hope you all travel light because our 3 medium bags just fit into the trunk of our Ibiza! Do take a GPS and hasta la vista, Bob.
We rented a car from Auto Europe in Granada - and dropped if off in Seville in 2010. It was very easy to leave the train station and get out of Granada. We were headed for Malaga before Gaucin, where we stayed for a week. I don't remember which direction that is..... It was somewhat more challenging driving to the train station in Seville but I had printed off the directions from Via Michellin and we did it without a hitch.
My experience in renting from Auto Europe (7-8 times) is that they plan ahead which cars will be needed.
we took thertrain from seville to granada and back--it's cheap & easy, and better than driving!
We picked up our car from the AutoEurope office at the Granada train station, and were on the freeway in what seemed like minutes! Seems to me it was just a couple turns. We drove through the Pueblas Blancas, and returned the car to Sevilla a few days later. Make sure you have good directions to the station in Sevilla. We also were four people with luggage and had a great car (five seater with hatchback). It was our first experience renting a car in Europe, and everything was very smooth. Have a fantastic trip!
