We only have 8 days in Spain. So far we are going to Madrid and Seville. I am trying to decide whether visit Ronda or Granada for a couple of days, I don't think I have time to do both. Any suggestions? Thanks! Bonnie
errrrrrr........... There's no comparison. A really terrific place or a hill town you can wear out in two hours.
Granada hands down. Ronda is a nice place for a day trip but we stayed in Granada for three days and I could have stayed longer. The Alhambra will take most of a day. You can easily spend another day (plus) wandering the plazas, cathedral and eating lovely Spanish food.
Granada is an important historic city, and the Alhambra is amazing. No contest. Make your reservations for the Alhambra visit ahead. We stayed up on the Alhambra hill, one night at Hotel America which is charming and rustic, mtwo more at a Carmen a short walk away, with beautiful views of the mountains. If you are traveling by train you can do a triangle, Madrid to Sevilla to Granada and back to Madrid, or the reverse if you prefer.
Granada!
I loved Ronda, but I would gladly have skipped it if the alternative was not seeing the Alhambra. On a tangent, I wouldn't have gone to Madrid if I hadn't needed to fly in/out of there. Cordoba is between Madrid and Seville. Don't miss the Mesquita there. You can do a day trip or leave Madrid early, spend the day, continue to Seville for the night.
Thank for your responses. We are leaning toward Madrid, Granada, and then Seville. We are going in early October, so we still have time to change our plans. Thanks again!
