Just returned from Paris and was there for the strike on Sept. 23. It only lasted 1 day and many buses still ran. Museums were closed or had limited hours. Go to Versailles for a daytrip. We also loved Chartres, Giverny, Rouen, Honfleur, Bayeux. Bruges in Belgium is amazing and less than 3 hours by Thalys. We stayed at a wonderful B&B for 70 euros. I think student discounts were for under 26 yrs. London is also a possibility, we loved it there. Have fun!
