Good vegan/veggie restaurants in Paris?

A friend and I are spending 10 days in Paris in mid-September. She is a vegan and we are interested in restaurant recommendations (and locations). We have a (very!) small apartment in the Marais district with a (very!) small kitchen so we'll also be doing some cooking there. Thanks for any info you can provide!

I recommend L'As du Fallafel, in the Marais on Rue des Rosiers, it's listed in Rick's book and has really delicious falafel. Certainly not fancy, and usually crowded with good reason. The best falafel I have ever tasted outside of Israel.

Enjoy!

Hi Holly, I am vegetarian and will be in Paris the same time as you. Perhaps we will bump into each other in line! Having said that, try contacting North American Vegetarian Society at www.navs-online.org for a copy of "Transformative Adventures, Vacations, and Retreats" ($15) or www.vegdining.com for web sites and contact info of vegetarian and vegan restaurants worldwide. I am going to try the previous recommendation of the falafil place. Plus, I am going to be relying on the open markets daily for fruits, veggies and hopefully munchy seeds. Bon Vacances!

I 2nd the Aus du Falafel - we ate there last week, and the "Especial" for 4.50 was wonderful.

The falafel place was just okay, a mon avis. Nice if you like to look at photos of celebrities. Le Potager du Marais was good (I am not a herbivore but my wife is).

Lots of options in the Marais. It's the best area in Paris for a vegan.
