We're planning to drive between Toledo and Granada as part of a larger Spanish trip. We're thinking two stops for the night and a bunch of day stops between the two: Possible day stops, Aranjuez, Belmonte, and/or Consuegra, with a night in Valdepenas. Then possible day stops in Linares, Ubeda, Baeza, and a night in Jaen. Any thoughts or ideas? Should I eliminate any of these? Is there a great stop I'm skipping?
Why not stop at Cordoba and visit the Mesquita (Mosque)? That's where I'm planning on stopping between Toledo and Granada.
Thanks, Cordoba comes later in the trip for us. From Granada we'll work our way through Ronda, Gibraltar, up the Costa de la Luz to Cadiz, to Seville, then Cordoba, drop off our car and train to Madrid for the end of our trip.
I have been to Consuegra and really enjoyed it and agree that you should include it, particularly if you have any interest in El Quijote. The windmills and castle at the top of the hill are very picturesque and you will get some great photos there. If you are interested, there is an actual route of Don Quijote which can be followed in Castilla/La Mancha. There are several paradors along the route. I have never been to Aranjuez but it is on the list of places that I would like to visit. Have you considered a visit to Cuenca?
Thanks, We thought about Cuenca but aren't going to see it this time. Even though we'll be in Spain for a month, we'll miss Costa del Sol, Velencia, Galicia and most of the Basque area.
