Here's a start, in no particular order: Caffé Boboli, 13 Rue Roi de Sicile - great, small neighbourhood Italian place. Florentine change of pace. La Tartine, 24 Rue de Rivoli - 1930's decor bistrot / wine bar, more authentic than the Montmartre bistrot featured in the Amelie film. Best place for escargots. Le Comptoir d'Alain le Sommelier, 5 Rue Crillon - neighbourhood lunch bistrot / wine bar meets serious sommelier. Fab place for anyone's last night's meal in Paris (Fri or Sat)!

If your plans include snacks or picnics, you'll want to visit a neighborhood boulangerie or patisserie. Fresh french bread smells and tastes fantastic; French pastries look like works of art in their glass cases.

L'As du Falafel for sure, as well as Chez Marianne, 2 rue des Hospitaliers St Gervais (take-out too). Here are more: Midi Gourmand, 8 rue de Rivoli - popular lunchtime paninis Mariage Frères, 35 rue Bourg Tiboug - very traditional tea / coffee house L'Enoteca, ? rue Saint-Paul - wine bar The Rue des Rosiers in the Marais is a great pedestrian street with great food and shops. Other useful stuff: Deli, 14 rue Pavée - meats, wine, etc. Pozzetto Gelato, 39 rue du Roi de Sicile Aux désirs de Manon, 129 rue St Antoine - bakery, pastry, tea / coffee shop (yummy choc-pistachio brioche!) Patisserie Boulangerie, 30 Roi de Sicile (corner des Ecouffes) - bakery / pastry shop Boulangerie Heurtier, 2 Rue Verrerie (extending from Roi de Sicile) - bakery / pastry & ice cream Izrael, 30 rue Francois-Miron - a very good spice store
Les Caves du Marais Cellar, 64 rue François Miron - great wine shop! There is a cluster of a small supermarket: Supermarché G20 + a butcher: L'Artisan Boucher + a deli: Ducs de Gascogne -- all on rue de Rivoli (across rue Mahler, near St Paul metro). I'm not sure if your apt. is at that end of the Marais...

There is a restaurant in the Marais called: Le Dôme du Marais 53 Bis Rue Francs Bourgeois 75004 Paris, France
01 42 74 54 17 The dome is original from the 19th century. It is authentic, French and off the beaten path. I have had 3 meals there including NYE's dinner and have always been impressed with their quality. Bon appetit! Diane
