LaRae, My memory isn't too clear, but one place you might try is Le Couleuvrine (hotel & restaurant). I had a great dinner one night at another restaurant that was fairly posh, but unfortunately I didn't write down the name. Happy travels!

Go to Beynac for one of your meals at Le Petite Tonnelle-it's a 15-minute drive and the food is wonderful!

Le Mirandol! Loved it! Le Coulevrine was also great as mentioned by Ken but was much more expensive.

LaRae: Please google up Bruno, Chief of Police (that is the title of a book and website) the author Martin Walker lives near Sarlat and has loads of great restaurant advice for the whole region, including Sarlat. Have fun.

Viamichelin.com is normally recommended to find driving routes and drive times. It also will provide the Michelin restaurant recommendations for locations around France. There's a handy Michelin app for restaurants as well.

If you're there on a Saturday, go to the Market and look for the Paella man. He has an enormous pan the size of a childs swimming pool and he makes the most delicious Paella (Spanish rice with chicken, seafood and saffron) which you buy "to go" by weight. Its a wonderful meal to eat in the park.

We ate at the restaurant that Rick recommended in his book. Can't remember the name, but it is the one that serves tartiflette, the best meal I ate while I was there. The also serve fondue. We went back a second time and saw them slicing all the meats for some kind of plate. The center was left open. I can't remember if it was filled with cheese sauce or a potato with cheese sauce. Another winner!

The restaurant mentioned above sounds like the one where we wanted to eat, but it would have been an hour wait. Instead, we ate at Le Rapier. Worst, toughest steak I have ever eaten in my life. Needed a chain saw to cut. Also, the service was terrible.
