Going from Paris St-Lazare to Paris Nord

We are booked on a train to travel from Bayeux to Bruges, via Paris and Brussels. We take a train from Bayeux to Paris St Lazare, then from Paris Nord to Brussels/Bruges. Is it a fairly easy walk from St Lazare to Nord, say 15 - 20 minutes, or should we be looking at some other transportation? We have ~ 40 minutes to transfer.

Thanks

Well, looking at the map in my little "Paris par Arrondissement", it seems like quite a hike to me through a very busy part of Paris. When you get to Gare du Nord, a very large & busy station, you then have to find your track, etc., so I suggest a taxi. Won't be too expensive if you are sharing with a travel companion, and stress-free. Anyway, look it up on your map of Paris and see what I mean.

Thalys sent us a little description for each stage of our journey and said that St Lazare to Nord was a 15 minute walk. When I looked at the map I thought it looked like a longer walk than that to me. I posted this in the hope that someone has actually done the walk and can comment on it.

According to viamichelin.com it's 2.5km with an estimated walking time of 37 minutes.

If you want to stay above ground, either take a taxi or take bus #26 directly between the stations (ten minutes). Or walk to Haussmann-Saint-Lazare and take the RER E to Magenta which is connected to Gare du Nord (four minutes, but you have to add the time it takes to get below ground and back to the surface).

taking the bus is an option (or taxis)

Go to : GARE SAINT LAZARE - Bus RATP

Direction : NATION-PLACE DES ANTILLES

from : GARE SAINT LAZARE
to : GARE DU NORD-DUNKERQUE
Approx 13 minutes

Go to : Gare du Nord (Surface) - Metro-RER-SNCF

cost per person 1.50

OR THE RER E which goes directly from St. Lazare to Gare du Nord
