Will be in Paris the 1st week of April - I have Celiac and am unable to eat gluten. Any suggestions????
Yes, relax , they have Celiacs in Paris too! Have you googled for "Gluten free in Paris " you may be surprised, there is apparently even a popular bakery. I would bring a small card with that explains in French you must eat Gluten free , Celiac etc.. there are such cards available , its good to have it in French no all waiters understand english. I personally would hit a grocery store after arrrival to pick up a few things to have on hand, and bring a few things with you , but you won't starve. I would also go on tripadvisor.com Paris forums, we see questions about gluten free every week on there, and many people have awesome suggestions ( I have no personal experience , I am not celiac but my best friends dad was so I do realize its hard to be safely gluten free unless you prepare all the food yourself, hard on vacation) Good luck .
My son has to eat GF and has for the last 8 years. We went to Paris in 2009 and did fine. There was a health store around the corner from the Rue Cler shopping street area that sold GF bread items. In the restaurants we used the card printed in French stating what he could not eat from celiac Sprue and never had a problem. Some restaurants even made things special for him. Grocery stores were good for meats and cheeses and got fresh fruit from the fruit markets. I'm sure if you check the current forums there are other health stores that will sell GF near where you will be staying. Have a great time.
