Are there breads available in Austria and Germany, I should say, readily available without gluten?

You can find gluten-free baked goods at the German health food stores, called "Reform Haus".

You can actually find gluten free products in lots of stores, not just the health food stores (Reform Houses)
Here is a good website for traveling in Germany and Austria to use in finding products, menu items, translations, and so on.

It's really easy in Austria, Jeff. Breads can be found in some Apothecaries or Health stores.
Lots of restaurants also offer gluten free menus now, and the population is educated about ti, which is nice. We just did a trip to Austria with my gluten intolerant mother, and had no problems finding her good food. :)
