I would like to take a bus tour for one day while in Paris to Giverny and perhaps somewhere else. What is a comfortable time frame in Giverny? I dont want to rush out of there and yet a combination of a Seine Valley tour or the village where Van Gogh is buried sounds appealing. Does anyone have experience in this area? Would you recomend specific tour company? Thanks, Suzanne
we caught a regular train from Paris to Giverny and it was an easy trip. I think it was about an hour and half trip--might have been less. We went early in the day and were back in Paris with the evening to do other things. There was easy transportation to Monet's house from the train station and a shuttle that brought us back. No need for the expense of a tour company. It is easy to do on your own. A trip to Josephine's maison is on the outshirts of Paris. This is where Josephine, Napolean's wife, spent most of her time and he came by there to see her before he went to exile. It's a lovely home and has a lot of interesting things to see. Can't remember the name of it but am sure you can find it in a guide book. You can get there easily.
If you go to Giverny and love art, be sure to visit the American art museam nearby with a fabulous collection of art by american painters who went to be near Monet.
