Gimmelwald with 1 year old baby

Hi, we are going to be arriving in Gimmelwald on 28.07 and staying 5 nights until 2.08. We have our 1 year old son with us this time. We've been twice before without him. Any tips on what to bring for him to make it as manageable as possible? We've been traveling for a couple weeks with him so far (Amsterdam. Berlin, Praha, Wien) all via train. He's adjusted. We have the basics with us - 2 baby carriers (a hiking one and a lightweight one), a travel crib, baby food, baby formula, stroller, a few small toys, a base layer and a rain jacket. But what do we need for him for Gimmelwald. I'm worried about getting up there and not having a key item. Thanks for your advice!

Hi Mike, relax . lol , your kid can survive without all that stuff ( baby formula still at one?) ,, and baby food, just use your fork and mash stuff on your plate( its not hard to order veggies with no sauces, or yogurts, or mince chicken ) ,, you may be surprised to learn children survived before all that stuff! lol The less you have to haul around the eaiser travel can be. You are well prepared,, two carriers, good clothes,, why would you or he need a bunch of stuff that you already don't hve with you right now? How is being in Gimmelwald going to make your/his needs different then anywhere else? The only thing I can think of,, and am not even sure, but have enough DIAPERS with you, those are hard to make do without! They have food, they have water/milk/ juice .. child will be fine .

Let's see. You drive this child all around San Francisco (maybe Muni) and you're worried about Gimmelwald. Not sure what you will be doing for 5 days but the boy should be just fine. He'll like looking at the cows. Also, there is a Co-op in Muerren where you can pick up needed items. There is also a road from Muerren back down to Gimmelwald that is all slightly downhill and paved. Great opportunity for a very nice and scenic stroller ride. Great views. Hopefully, the wildflowers are still in bloom. Bet he falls asleep before you can get to Gimmelwald.

Hi Mike,
Since it sounds like you've been travelling in Europe for a while with him already, I bet that you'll be fine. My experience with infants in Europe is that if you get them comfortable in the first few days, they pretty much roll with it for the rest of the trip (our trips are usually about 3 weeks or so). I realize that you're planning for the "remoteness" of Gimmelwald, but I think that you're pretty well prepared. Also, Muerren is just over the hill. Have fun!

While I had a teenager with me (which could be a challenge as well!) , Imcommend you on your travel thus far! I ran into plenty of parents with youngsters last year in Gimmelwald! Make sure you buy your snacks and small food items for the baby at the grocery store in Interlaken before you go up to Gimmelwald. No shopping for grocery items for toddlers once you are there! Enjoy! Im so proud of you and your venture! I hope you are blogging to your family on your journey!
