Gibraltar

If we are driving from Granada to Tarifa, is Gibraltar worth a stop? How much time do we need to allow? Are there other places you would suggest stopping along the way?

Granada to Tarifa is going to take you half a day - maybe longer if the coast road traffic is heavy. By the time you get into Gibraltar you won't have much time left for looking around. IMHO you would need at least a full day there to make it worth while. Have a leisurely lunch in the old part of Malaga instead, or call into Puerto Banus and look at the "beautiful" people! :-) Roger

On the way from Granada to Tarifa, we stopped at Ronda for lunch and a short visit then made our way down to the coast and visited Gibraltar. We parked along the road and walked across the border. Strolling thru town, we made our way to the aerial tram went up to the top and took a bunch of photos. We took the tram down and walked thru town back across the air strip to our car. Then we drove to Tarifa, booked into our hotel and went for a late dinner. The next day we took the ferry to Morroco for the day. Quite doable but it's not a day that you can linger too long. We are quite happy that we made both stops.

Thanks Bob, we were just going to do one or the other. Now it looks like we should have no problems doing both Gib and Tangier.
