We are going to be staying in San Sebastian. Then we are planning to walk the last 5 days of the Camino de Santiago starting ni Sarria. What is the best way to get to Sarria from San Sebastian?
Thanks! I would love to see your packing list. My husband always says I pack too much.
Hi Renee, I walked the Camino 2 years ago starting in St Jean, I arrived in Santiago in 33 days. Though I don't have any specific details on how to get from San Sebastian to Sarria I can highly recommend a couple of Camino websites with messages boards with all kinds of questions and answers more specific to your situation, people that are planning their Camino and people like me who have done it peruse it everyday with answers. As I'm sure you know since you're starting in Sarria you'll qualify for you Compostela! If your interested PM me and I can pass along more information and answer any question you may have, I also have a great packing list for the Camino I will gladly pass along. http://www.caminodesantiago.me.uk/forum/forum.php http://www.santiago-compostela.net//
I did a little research and you can take the train from San Sebastian to Ponferrada then a bus to Sarria. One thing you'll learn doing the Camino is how well you can get along with very little. My pack weighed about 25 lbs with everything I carried. I looked at the Renfe train site and there is a morning train to Ponferrada that leaves at 9:02 AM and takes about 7 hours arriving at 3:56 PM and there are numerous buses from Ponferrada to Sarria, it looks like it's about a 2 1/2 hour bus ride, the last bus leaving at 6:45 PM and arriving in Sarria at 9:15PM Here's a link to the train site; http://www.renfe.com/EN/viajeros/horarios.html Here is a link to the bus site ALSA http://www.alsa.es/
