Does anyone know what town you would go to by train to take the boat Rick Steves talks about to get to Hallstat, Austria?

You will actually take the train to Hallstatt. The train station is on one side of the lake....the town of Hallstatt is on the other sitting in the side of a mountain. Once at the Hallstatt train station, you can caught a boat across the lake. By the way....excellent choice in going to Halstatt!

Bobbi, Chuck (above) is right ... arriving by train across the lake and taking the launch (which meets every train) is one of the really fun parts of visiting Hallstatt. Launch fares are quite inexpensive, too. Have a great trip ! P.

I drove to Hallstatt from Vienna. That's much better than taking the train. Then I drove on to Salzburg. It was great to stop at the little towns
