Hello,
My husband and I are taking the chunnel from Paris to London this fall. Our train departs at 10:13 on a Saturday. My question is, how to we get to the train station (Gare Nord) from the 6th arrondissement? We are renting an apartment near Blvd Saint Germain & Rue Du Seine and won't have a concierge to help w/getting a taxi. We will also have all our luggage, so not sure if metro is appropriate? Thanks!
You can book a taxi with Taxi Bleu, either on line or by telephone, to pick you up. Google "taxi bleu paris" for info.
If you can carry your luggage, the metro is fine.
Meg - As a side note. I saw several people fighting there luggage going up stairs to the Eurostar check in. There is an escalator that drops you off right by the Eurostar check in.
Are you packing light? If so, walk a few blocks to the Saint-Germain-des-Pres Metro station. Take Metro line 4 directly to Gare du Nord.
If you decide to take a taxi, locate the closest taxi rank to your apartment when you first arrive in Paris. If one is handy, you won't need to book a taxi over the phone.
Hi Meg,
I just returned from our first Paris/London trip. My husband vowed he would travel the whole trip without using a taxi. We handled our luggage through all the metros/tubes (I am not a carryon person either)Saturday morning should be fine in terms of crowds. Check your metro map there are metro stops everywhere just beware there are lots of stairs and escalators in the metro/tube. You can totally do it!
