Getting to airport early in the morning

Hi, we are staying in Paris close to Rue Cler near the Ecole Militare Metro stop. Our flight leaves out of CDG at 8:00 a.m. on a Monday. We are going to leave the hotel by 6:00 a.m. What would you sugest the best transportation for us would be? If taxi, any idea an of approximate cost and how long would it take to get there? Thanks for your help! Kim

Rick's Paris book has all the details, but I believe the ride from Paris to CDG was over an hour. I think it's about 50 Euro - and probably an extra charge before 7am. Last time we took a taxi to Gare du Nord and the train to CDG. I agree with the last poster - you need to leave earlier. Your hotel might also have some information and might be able to arrange a shuttle.

I agree with the previous posters. You need to leave earlier. Since the Metro doesn't start running early enough for you, take a taxi to Gare du Nord. The first RER B train leaves from there for CDG just before 05:00. The cost is 8.10 EUR.

If you're flying back to the states you'll need to be at CDG AT LEAST 2 hours before flight time....security there is absolute mayhem, especially when all the business travellers are leaving. Even the 5 am RER might not be early enough. You can check out accorhotels.com, do a search on Roissy, and locate several inexpensive hotels close to the airport.

For the record, the first RER B train leaves Gare du Nord at 04:56. It arrives at CDG 1 at 05:28 and at CDG 2 TGV at 05:30.
