Getting From Salzburg to Venice Hotel

We will be traveling from Salzburg to Venice in October we are staying at the Crown Plaza outside of Venice
Crowne Plaza Venice East-Quarto d'Altino Hotel. My question is do we take the train from Salzburg to Venice St. Luica and then to the hotel. This is part of a cruise package. And is the train system easy to figure out.We are starting in Munch 2 days Salzburg 2 days 2 days in Venice before our cruise . First time to Europe wanting to see what we can , never know if we'll get to come back.

From google maps, it appears that the hotel is quite a ways NE of Venice. It also appears that there may be a rail station, Mestre, that is far closer to the hotel than either the St. Luica or Tronchetto stations. There is a train from Salzburg to Mestre that takes about 6 3/4 hours with one change. I would suggest you contact the hotel to find out their location in relation to the Venice rail stations and whether or not they will provide a shuttle or can suggest another means of transfer.

Rather than relying on google maps I can give some personal experience there. The hotel is fairly typical Crown Plaza, large and modern throughout. The lobby is quite open, with the desk on the left. Rooms are large and modern. Be careful on entering the hotel to the right of the revolving doors, as there is a one or two inch step there which was not marked which my wife tripped on. The manager was very good and got first aid supplies up to the room, some of which are still in our medicine cabinet. The car park is under the hotel with many spaces. There is a commuter rail station directly behind the hotel with frequent, over twice an hour except at siesta time as I remember, with anywhere from 1 to 4 stops to Venice Santa Lucia. Although all the trains stop at Mestre no change is needed. Travel time was in the vicinity of 15 to 20 minutes. There is a pizza restaurant in the town. If you were driving we would tell you of another hotel we preferred about 2 miles away. Breakfast is standard international 4* hotel breakfast. Nothing to remember, nothing to forget. The station is on the Udine line. Coming from Salzburg change at Mestre, no need to go into Ve.SL. No escalators or lifts at Mestre. Its hump baggage down, walk along and hump baggage back up.
