We are planning to visit Bayeau in Sept. Question: How does one get from Gare du Nord to Gare St. Lazare using the METRO system. Seems like a simple proposition as both stations are less then 2 mi apart as the crow flies. FYI:We're not paying for a freakin taxi in Paris no matter what!
On second thought, what's the approximate cost for a taxi ride to Gare St. Lazare from Gare du Nord? We appreciate all answers, please be specific as to streets, METRO stops and if possible names / colors of METRO lines. If walking is an option, please let us know the best route we should take and approximatge distance / time. Thanks in advance for your help! Tom S.
From Gare du Nord, follow the signs to Magenta. This station is connected to the Gare du Nord station. Take the RER E one stop to Haussmann-St Lazare and follow the signs to Gare St Lazare. It is quite easy.
Laura is correct. Be sure to read the signs as you enter the station, as it is easy to head to the wrong train.
Hi, Aside from the two options mentioned, walking and taking the Metro, there is another option....the bus from Gard du Nord. Outside of the Gare du Nord station (street name: Rue Dunkerque) is a bus stop where bus # 26 and #43 stop. Both of these go to Gare St Lazare....takes about 15-20 mins. That was early in the morning.
Tom, The route that Laura suggested is the easiest option, as it doesn't involve any changes. When you arrive at Magenta, be sure to note the direction of the RER that you board ( Hausmann Saint-Lazare is the correct one). The advantage of using the RER rather than Bus is that it's not affected by traffic, so your travel time will be somewhat predictable. If you wanted to travel via Metro, that's also relatively straightforward. The method I'd use is RER "B" (direction Robinson / Saint-Rémy Lés Chevreuse) to Châtelet Les Halles. It's a "transfer station" so a short walk will be necessary to get to the Châtelet station. Transfer to Metro Line 14 (direction Saint Lazarre) and you'll be there in three stops. My memory is a bit "foggy" but I recall lots of Escalators to get from the Metro station up to the Saint Lazare rail station. Happy travels!
