Getting from Fussen to Bacharach

If you buy your tickets well in advance, you may find some of the 29€ (49€ for two) tickets available for Füssen-Bacharach. If you have lots of time, up to 5 people can travel this route on Saturday or Sunday with a "Happy Weekend" Ticket, a group daypass for regional trains throughout the country that costs 39€/day. The regional trains stop everywhere and will require about 9 hours of your time. But that's the cheapest way to go for 2 or more travelers. The 4-hr. car trip will cost you 40€ just for gas and doesn't include pick-up or drop-off time or traffic slow-downs.
