Is there an easy way to get from Belguim to Normany? Do you have to go to Paris first? We are trying to decide if we should try to drive it or if we should do the train from Brussels to Paris and then rent a car in Paris and drive to Normandy. Opinions?
With the Thalys train, the easiest option is probably to take a train from Brussels to Paris, then rent a car in Paris for the drive to Normandy. Or, take the train from Paris to Bayeaux or some other town, and rent a car from there.

Hi Jill,
... copy the above link and paste it into your Internet search box. Then, touch the ENTER key on your computer keyboard... Via Michelin covers all modes of transit ... including afoot. We bet you will try several modes in via michelin before you decide ... bon voyage! P
Hi Jill -
We did the reverse of what you are looking to do. We took the train from Bayeux to Brugge. It was quite straightforward, we caught a train from Bayeux to Gare St Lazare in Paris, went to Gare St Nord and caught the Thalys train to Brussels, then switched trains, in the same station, to go to Brugge. I think the entire length of the trip was around 5 hours. As far as I know, if you are taking the train, you will have to go to Paris to transfer.
If you are comfortable driving out of Paris, I would probably just pick up the car there and drive to Bayeux. Your other option is to pick up your car in Caen, because the train from Paris to Bayeux will stop there. The drive from Caen to Bayeux is less than 30 minutes.
Where in Belgium? I can't speak for Paris to Normandy, but an alternate way to get from Bruges to Paris is to take a Belgian IC train to Lille and then transfer to the TGV to Paris.
Anther option, assuming you will want a car in Normandy (helpful): Train to Lille & drive from there.
Hi, I second Adam's idea of train to Lille and drive to Normandy. We did this in September and the drive from Lille to Honfluer(for us)was a snap.
