Has anyone been successful getting to Honfleur from Bayeux without a car? How long and how many transfers did it take?

Take the train from Bayeux to Caen. Non-stop trains make the run in 17 minutes. Trains making two intermediate stops make the run in 23 minutes. Busverts du Calvados buses run between Caen and Honfleur. There is frequent service on line 20, but there are several stops and the ride takes 2hr15min. the line 39 express bus runs non-stop from Caen to Honfleur in 1hr40min, but there are only three buses/day (two on Sundays).
