Germany with 9 month old

I'm travelling with my mom and my 9 month old son to Hamburg for a wedding. We will spend a few days with the bride, then let her run off into the sunset and we will run off on our own. The wedding is in Hamburg, but we'd like to see Berlin and Salzburg. My mom went to University there in the 70s. Baby is very laid back and a great eater and sleeper. He flies very well. We plan on using the train system. Does anyone have any recomendations for travelling with a baby?

I've been traveling with my 2.5 year old nephew, and we have survived thus far. My guess is a 9 month old is easier.
Maybe just take ear plugs for the baby in case of loud noise.

A backpack or (if not too big yet), front carrier is the way to go. You can also take a cheapy umbrella stroller too that is light and you can whisk on and off the train. A way to travel is the convertable carseat/stroller. It's a carseat for the airplane (which you'll absolutely want the baby to have it's own seat) then has a handle to pull out to roll along in airports, etc. A real lifesaver.

Hi Emilie, I travelled to Italy last spring with my daughter, who was 10mo at the time. We flew Lufthansa, who provided a bassinett which hung from the bulkhead in front of us. LIFESAVER! We didn't have to pay for a seat, and she slept the entire trip across the Atlantic. We took a beefed up version of an umbrella stroller that reclined, so our daughter could run around in the parks and piazzas, then nap in the stroller while we rested in a cafe or something. If you have it, bring some SPF clothing so that you don't have to slather the kid in sunscreen from head to toe, as the sun may be intense, and you'll be sightseeing a lot. Ask for a crib where you are staying, or extra blankets (we would build a "nest" on the floor of the rooms without cribs).
I could go on forever with this, so you may want to search for some of the previous postings about travelling with infants, as there are a lot of great tips in those postings. If you have any specific concerns/questions, let me know and I'll do my best to help out.
