As anyone traveled in Germany/Switzerland recently and can advise of some of the smaller towns being up and running or a little shut down? Will be traveling there for a few weeks in May of '08. Some of the areas we'll be hitting are the Rhine area in Germany and a good bit around the Interlaken area. I'm a little more concerned about the Interlaken(mountain towns) and especially the weather that time of that year.

Been to the Mountain Villages around Interlaken several times in late May and early June. There are plenty of tourists there (and of course the locals who live there). Not all of the shops in Muerren were open, but there were enough to satisfy me.
Weather can range from warm sunshine days to drizzle and even a whiteout freak blizzard with 3 feet of snow.
