I am on the bahn.Com website and I am trying to buy Bayern tickets from Parsberg Bahnhof to Nürnberg Hbf for day after tomorrow (Dec. 22). However, I can find no available tickets. Not for that date, the 21st or the 22nd - not for any class or time. Are the tickets sold out or am I doing something wrong?

Bayern-Tickets don't sell out, and you can buy them in any station in Bayern just before travel. There is really no reason to buy it online. Technically, you don't buy a Bayern-Ticket from someplace to someplace. They are valid for unlimited travel all over Bavaria for the day. One of the reason you are not getting any prices is that the travel is entirely inside a Verkehrsverbund (metro district, Nürnberg, www.vgn.de). The bahn does not sell, or show prices for, those tickets online. Next thing is, you probably don't want a Bayern-Ticket at all. The one way ticket from Parsberg Bahnhof to Nürnberg Hbf is only €9,40/p, €18,80 for two adults, and there is an all day pass (TagesTicket Plus) in the VGN for up to 6 people (max 2 @ 18 yrs and over) for €15,60. Had you wanted to buy the Bayern-Ticket online, the trick is to pick two towns not in the same VV and sufficiently far apart for the standard regional fare to be more than the cost of the Bayern-Ticket (€21 Single, €29 up to five people). Then under savings fares for a regional train after 9 AM, it should show €21 or €29 and purchase. Go ahead and purchase that ticket online. The end points don't matter; it's good anywhere in Bavaria. But do make sure the date is correct; the ticket's non-transferable.

The problem is that DB doesn't sell tickets for that itinerary. The Nuremberg Transit Authority (VGN) does. Your itinerary is a price-level 10 trip - a single ticket is 9.40. A Bayern ticket is overkill. A daypass (Tagesticket plus, good for 2 adults and up to 4 kids) is 15.60€. Buy the Tagesticket Plus at a VGN ticket machine in Parsberg on the 22nd. I hate when I leave information out - I neglected to post that the ticket I was looking for was for five of us - that is why I was thinking if the Bayern ticket. I am glad to hear they don't sell out too! Thanks again!
