Has anyone here had experience with or have knowledge of one of the language schools in Germany or Austria offering total immersion in the German language for adults? I have some knowledge of the language but not enough to feel comfortable with it. I have studied it on this side of the Atlantic, but never seemed to make it beyond the basic level. So, instead of traveling about the country on my next visit, I would like stay in one place and try to learn conversational German a little better. But I would need a school that caters to adults instead of college-age students. Are there any out there like that?

Adult germany language course are offered all over the country. It's called the deutsch volkshochschule and is offered in three levels. Each course builds on the previous one. They are seperate courses, so you can just take the first one. They're about 12 weeks long each, at least in the Nordrhein-Westphalen region, and are taught by degree holding teachers. I assume they are the same everywhere.

I've always associated Berlitz Schools with learning a language by immersion. I haven't kept track of them for a while, but I think they still can be found in many of the larger cities of austria and germany.
