Germany in June

I will be travelling to Busingen, Germany/Switzerland for two weeks in the latter part of June. The trip is for a international business graduate studies course and I am sure they will provide us with as much information as they can. We will be staying on the campus of the European Nazarene College and will also be visiting some businesses for the purpose of the course. However, we will also have some free time during this two-week stay. We are told there are a lot of nearby major cities that we can visit and I guess my question is where would be some good places to visit and the best/cheapest transportation to travel to and from these places during these two weeks. Even though it is for school, it will be a great experience and I want to make the most of it. Plus any information can be passed on to my instructor and classmates that will be going. Thanks in advance for the information.

For Germany: there's a daypass called the "Baden-Württemberg Ticket" which is good for rail and bus travel throughout a huge chunk of southern Germany and includes places like Stuttgart, Tübingen, Freiburg, the Black Forest and Lake Constance; here's a diagram: http://www.bahn.de/regional/view/mdb/pv/planen_buchen/liniennetzkarten/2010/MDB81278-streckenkarte_bawue_09_2010.pdf It's 29 euros for 2-5 people, 21 for one, so travel with your friends. You should be able to get a bus into Schaffhausen and explore from there. You're also a short ride from Zürich, of course.

You'll be so close to the Bodensee (Lake Constance) and there's a lot to see and do all around the lake Castles (Meersburg), Insel Mainau, town of Lindau, etc. The black forest is also awesomely different from Kansas, I spent 2 yrs at Ft. Leavenworth for a school.
You should also get to Luzern, Switzerland. Not that far from where you'll be (1.5 hrs) but the mountain views are stunning. There will still be tons of snow on the mtns then.

On a clear day, stand in the harbor at Lindau facing the Alps. That might be one of the most stunningly beautiful vistas on Earth.
