Germany in August continued

Hello this is Susie again .... I posted a few weeks back and inquired about travel in Germany and am truly grateful for the great advice of many of you seasoned travellers! We are taking most of the advice offered but still need a little more as I am attempting to finalize my itinerary. We have a 6 night window to see Germany. After arriving into Frankfurt in the early morning, we will head to Rothenburg and spend night 1 and 2 there and look forward to doing the Night Watchman's Tour and seeing the quaint town. Night 3 and 4 are still up in the air but we are taking the advice of many of you and spending our last 2 nights in the Mosel/Rhine Valley. We currently have a reservation at the RheinHotel in St Goar (it had good reviews on Trip Advisor and Rick Steve's liked it) So here is the BIG question!! Is there a cool town between Rothenburg and the Rhine area where we would want to do 2 nights? Would it be totally CRAZEEEE to take a train and see Paris?? someone told me it was only about 2 or 3 hours?
I know that I sound like we dont know what in the heck we are doing (which is sort of true) but we are people that love travelling but dont know much about Germany - we like to go with places that seasoned people recommenend soooo can anyone help us with our itinerary??? Buckets of thanks!! Susie from Birmingham, AL (originally from Calif so Im not a southerner but I do say y'all)

I wasn't involved in your previous conversation, but here goes! Heidelberg is nice, as are Mainz and and Manheim - the latter two are on the way to St Goar (I don't know if you have a car), but Heidelberg is not far out of your way.

The st. gaor stop will probably be the best. I lived on the rhein before, and that area is really pretty. give your self atleast 2 days on the rhein. there is a lot of exploring one can do. there are a lot of castels to see and vineyards. depending on the time your there, they pick grapes around late september and all october. I would look into a tour in the rheingau in the town of geisenheim/johannisberg. even if your not able to find a tour, try getting dinner at the place above the vineyards. rosengasse is the name of the street i believe and their are two resturants on them past the shell station. also, i would go from frankfurt stright to paris if you decide to go the paris route. you can catch an ICE train to paris with no problems. you can book a ticket with the german train system, DB, up to 3 months in advance. the sooner you book it the cheaper it is. usually after the first month the "savings" ticket runs out.
but i would reccomend going paris, rhein, rothenburg. best of luck!
