Germany, Austria, France- questions Part 2

With that in mind, here is my tentative starting point for an itinerary. It probably has a bit too much packed into it, but I am trying to meet everyone's needs. Any help, suggestions, thoughts would be appreciated:

10/24 Fly out

10/25 arrive, take earliest train that makes sense to Munich, hang out in Munich that evening???

10/26 Salzburg, Austria (maybe Radius tours, since it gives a 1 1/2 hour orientation and then time to sightsee on your own or should we just wing it ourselves by taking the earliest train there and latest train back?)

10/27 Dachau (Radius tour departs at 11 am for about 5 hours, so we would get back at about 4-5 p.m- store luggage at train station???) , then back to Munich to catch train to Frankfurt then on to Wiesbaden (I still have to check schedules to see what makes sense- I might have to train to airport then Wiesbaden??)- We have to spend this night in Wiesbaden

10/28- Wiesbaden and surrounding areas (maybe train into Frankfurt for the short tour)- have to stay in Wiesbaden

10/29- Frankfurt (zoo or natural history museum, just relax and take in sights, etc.)- have to stay in Wiesbaden

Diane, I'd definitely recommend Dachau, especially for you son. My son was 15 and really learned a lot from being there. We didn't go there as a tour, instead we used the little speakers that gave info about each site - a tour guide might make the trip easier and give more info, but it's not necessary

Also, go to the Hofbrauhaus for dinner one night in Munich (go early before it gets too too crazy) It will be fun for you all and your son will like the food and music

Hope you have fun!

You didn't say how long your trip would be. Many people pack too much into a stay and when they get home it is all one big blur.
If you will be gone 2 weeks, 3 cities, perhaps 4 would be tops. People never take into consideration the time it takes to get to the train station, buy tickets, wait for the train, etc., etc. all this when you could spend that travel time enjoying the city you are in.
I will be in Berlin for a week, then a 4 hr train to Prague for a week...that's it and I know I won't get to see all that I want to.
Enjoy your trip!
