We have one night free night in our travels. We are staying in Garmish and need to be in Mannheim a couple nights later. What is a good town to stop in between the two? Any nice drives? Not to be missed sights. We've been to Rotenburg and Heidelberg, but we have stuck to the highways for the most part.

It doesn't lie directly between Garmisch and Mannheim, but consider perhaps spending a night on the Bodensee, such as in Lindau or Friedrichshafen. Why? Look these places up on Google images, and you'll see why.

I agree with Tom. Lindau is gorgeous. You will enjoy it even just for a few hours. Lots of photo ops!
