german travel after flooding

Any thoughts about whether or not it will be a good idea to travel throughout Germany later this month? I checked a site on the current flood situation throughout the country and it looks like some areas have been untouched. What about travel between areas by car? Should we completely skip areas that have been effected? I worry about mold, mildew, lack of clean food/water. Is that a reasonable concern? Has anyone heard the weather prediction for the rest of June? Thankyou!

Germany's river valleys flood all the time. The water recedes. They deal with the damage. You aren't going to be given a dank, musty room. Lack of clean food and water? Bah. Better to worry about tornadoes. You might do well to stay out of Passau - lots of damage there. Road problems? There might still be a handful. But then there's always a handful for other reasons (routine construction, heavy traffic) so it's pretty hard to make more specific predictions since you haven't said just where or when you're traveling.

The flooding is limited to low lying areas near rivers, it's not like the entire country is under water. As Russ noted, Passau is just about the only regularly touristed city that you would want to avoid. Part of Dresden got hit, but I don't believe the entire city is affected. The A8 Autobahn was closed east of Munich, but I believe it has reopened. The two secondary roads that run along the Rhine (B9 and B42) are closed and submerged for much of their lengths. However, rail access remains open along the Mittelrhein and most of the towns popular with tourists are relatively unaffected, other than the main road and waterfront.
