Any suggestions on the best cheapest place (site) to purchase Germany twin rail passes? I need two twin passes. I checked the price on the DB site in Euros compaired to the RailEurope site. Rail Europe was less, taking into account bank fees and changes in Euro vs USD just wondering if any other options for the twin pass.
There are so many discount tickets (Laender-Tickets, Dauer-Spezial, SparPreis) that a rail pass might not pay. I used one in 2000, and considering the trains I used, just made it pay, but there would have been other options, which would have saved me money.
You can buy German Rail passes here at ETBD. They might be a little more than from RailEurope, but I think he still throws in a few things, like Using you Railpass DVD and maybe a guidebook. Plus you get a discount on purchases from the Travel Store.
Hey Lee, I knew you would have good info as always. I used the twin pass back in Dec. 09 for first class travel. My wife and I are not rich but the ease of getting on and off any time and taking many day trip worked well. It didn't hurt that the seats were extremely nice and the attendants would pass out chocolate covered almonds, packages of cashews, and on some trains drinks. We're taking another couple with us in Sept. and just wanted to check if there was a cheaper place to purchase tickets. Thanks, Lee
