We're going to spend the month of June in Munich and we'd like to know if there is a place to go listen to Volksmusik and traditional Alpine music with yodeling and such. We know about Frauendorfer in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, but wonder if there is any place in Munich (other than Hofbrauhaus.) I suppose polka music is out of the question. Surprise me, please!
Because you've already ruled out the Hofbräuhaus, I would check the fliers about town to see if there are any ensembles performing, particularly in churches. I'm not sure if the Frauendorfer's nightly performance really fits the description of what you're looking for. It's just one guy in Lederhosen with an accordion and synthesizer. Once or twice a night, some boys come out dressed in Tracht and perform a little dance.
we will be there in June as well. the best place I have found is the Jodelerwirt which is walking distance from the Marienplatz. it is a very small place but they have live music Thursday through Saturday and we have a lot of fun everytime we go. send me a PM if you would like more details
